What is a effective acne treatment other than proactive? (proactive burnt my skin because i have fair skin!)?

Firstly you will NOT get roaccutaine unless you have SEVERE acne, you've seen a dermatologist more than once, and he thinks you need it. Roaccutaine is not a drug to be messed with.

There are easier ways to deal with acne that are nicer to your skin. Roaccutaine might be a ';wonder drug'; to some but for many the side-effects are not worth it, I was constantly putting vaseline all over my lips, elbows, knees, ankles, finger and toe joints and sometimes my wrists because it made my skin crack so badly, I hated every minute of it, and it didn't really help my acne either.

It is a MYTH that what you eat affects your skin, IT DOESN'T.

Pimples are part of growing up and people that don't get them are VERY lucky.

Thankfully though they are easy to get rid of, unless you have moderate - severe acne which I assume you don't.

Each morning when you wake up and each night before you go to bed, wash your face, but don't use expensive face washes, as in the long run they make your skin worse, use soap and water and NOTHING else. Simple soap is great (simple the brand name) it hasn't got any harsh chemicals that will aggravate your skin, just natural ingredients that won't even aggravate really sensitive skin.

Try not to touch your face during the day as you will over-stimulate the glands and produce more oils leading to more spots. Try to keep hair off your face as this also can lead to greasy skin (transfer of grease).

When you have a white head, pop it, make sure you've washed your hands first, pop it and squeeze until you see blood, stop squeezing when you see blood, put something like rubbing alcohol over the spot to clean it, wash your hands, leave it alone.

Blackheads are more awkward, but you can still get rid of them. Steam your face or wait until you've just got out of the shower to try to get rid of blackheads. Don't try to pop them out like a white head, pull the skin on either side of the blackhead in opposite directions away from the blackhead (%26lt;-------- : --------%26gt; ) [ : = blackhead] and keep doing this until it pop's out of it's own accord.

If you do have moderate - severe acne, you should see your doctor, they will prescribe medication if they think it's necessary. I prefer minocyclin oral antibiotics and zineryt topical lotion for my acne, but your doctor will prescribe what is best for you and your skin. Follow the rules that your doctor gives you religiously, and you'll soon either be acne free and getting there

Hope I helped. =]What is a effective acne treatment other than proactive? (proactive burnt my skin because i have fair skin!)?
The most effective treatment is Roaccutaine (Accutaine in the US).

This is not debatable any dermatologist would tell you this is the strongest drug by far.

However I would only take it if your acne is very bad and you need a dermatologist to prescribe it (at least in the UK you do but if you don't in the US I would advise asking a licensed dermatologist before taking such a strong drug).

The majority of people who take this drug will be cured for life. However the side affects can range from dry skin to full blown depression.

Take Roaccutaine if your acne is severe.

Take antibiotics with a benzoyl peroxide cream (Duac Gel) prescribed from our dr for mild acne.

For moderate acne try the above method for a few months whilst your and get Roaccutaine if their ineffective. What is a effective acne treatment other than proactive? (proactive burnt my skin because i have fair skin!)?
I've never personally tried it but I have heard good things about it, Nutrogena, they have a personal skin ID system.
